Knots Seminar

Bowline, Truckers Hitch, Alpine Butterfly, Figure 8, Square... know what those are? If not, good! Learn how to tie all of those knots and plenty of others at this outdoor seminar. Rope will be provided, just bring yourself! You will knot be disappointed.

2017 Walk to End Alzheimer's

How can you raise awareness and help in "advancing Alzheimer's support, care, and research?" By walking! Join the community as Humboldt County participates in this national fundraiser event for Alzheimer's awareness. Start your own team with family, friends and co-workers or join one that is already participating! Registration starts at 8:30 a.m followed by the opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The walk will begin at 10:00 a.m. More information can be found at

Dune Restoration

Friends of the Dunes will be hosting this restoration project focusing on the removal of invasive plants. All tools and gloves will be provided, including snacks. It is recommended you bring a water bottle and wear work clothing.

Humboldt Bay Birding Trip

Fall migration is here and Redwood Region Audubon Society is hosting a guided tour to view the birds that will be flying by Humboldt Bay. Look along side local experts in finding shore and pelagic birds on this fun, engaging wildlife tour. Car pooling will be provided from Willow Creek, those that would like to meet the group on the coast may contact Melissa for details.

Arcata Marsh Tour with Sharon Levy

Join this weekly interpretive tour around the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary. Local author Sharon Levy will lead the 90-minute walk around the marsh focusing on the ecology of the area. No reservation required, meet at the Interpretive Center by 2:00pm for the guide lead tour.
